From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
